Orthodontic treatment will the improve the position of your teeth.  It is commonly done to correct crowded, rotated or spaced apart teeth.  We may recommend it to improve your bite and jaw position, widen your airway or improve the prognosis of other dental treatment.

How Orthodontic Treatment Works

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, the bone holding the teeth remodels and gradually the teeth move to the proper position.

Duration of Treatment

Depending on several factors, including age, treatment method, and your specific case, treatment time varies and can last between six months and three years, and may be done in two separate phases.

We perform some orthodontics in our office, and also work with several quality orthodontic specialists in our area.  We will help coordinate your care no matter who provides the treatment.

There are different ways of moving teeth today.  We will work with you and your orthodontist to explain your options as well as the advantages of each system.
